Light and fast, these small cabin cruisers sometimes known as ‘pocket cruisers’ offer an entry level to cruising under sail. Lysanders were originally designed in the 1960’s and sold as plans and kits which could be built at home using marine ply to make sailing available to all. This example was built in 1977 by Febris Marine in Essex out of GRP and remains a delightful little sailing cruiser that has been linked to the Lysander Owners Association since 1992.

Having been in the same ownership for over 30 years and maintained in a good ‘sail away’ condition, this gem of a boat has been sailed both on the South Coast and the East Coast, the latter while on a mooring on the River Orwell. She now resides in the Norfolk Broads on the River Thurne with a transferable mooring.

The cabin offers two berths, a sink with running water, a two-burner spirit stove, electric lighting, radio and VHF communications, with a new 12v battery topped up by solar power and a range of bunk cushions all in good condition. A Jeckells Bermudan mainsail is accompanied by a genoa on a luff roller, controlled from the cockpit. The engine is a 2007 Mariner 4 outboard, recently serviced in 2023 and is in full working order.

Now sadly for sale owing to her owners advancing years she would make a great first boat and is priced to sell.

PLEASE NOTE: Only the first photo/main photo shows the vessel from 2023. All other photos are from around 2010-2014 but we understand that she is currently presented to much the same standard.

MOORING: It's understood that this vessel's highly desirable Northern Broads mooring (with nearby pub) may be available to the purchaser, subject to negotiation and agreement by the mooring owner.
