Successor to the Oyster 39, and developed from the HP46 and 435, the Oyster 406DS is the smallest deck saloon model ever built by this world famous yacht builder. Synonymous with quality and outstanding performance, this model in common with most others designed for Oyster, is an out and out pedigree blue water cruiser. Fast and responsive in all conditions, stable in heavy weather, and having great manoeuvrability under power, the 406DS also offers superb liveaboard accommodation. Although only a 40-footer, her enviable deck saloon maximises living space and storage, and enables her to accommodate a family, or two couples with a good degree of privacy, on board for extended periods in safety and comfort. Like many Oyster models, these yachts were not mass produced, with only 35 406/406DSs built from 1986 to 1990, and so they don't come on the market very often. With her modest size making her easier to handle and more economical to run, whilst still offering big boat capabilities and performance, and with thousands of sea miles collectively under their keels, the Oyster 406 is a proven and serious passage maker which has to be a contender for any buyer with blue water aspirations.

This Oyster 406DS is a deck saloon model, as opposed to the standard 406 coachroof version, thereby offering enhanced accommodation and making her even more ideal for liveaboard and long distance cruising! She was purchased by the current owner just last year and has since undergone a vast amount of renovation work (see note below). She offers great potential for someone looking to go far and happy to complete some finishing touches themselves, mostly cosmetic or electrical in nature, plus the purchasing and fitting of additional cruising gear to their own specification and requirements.

This vessel has previously been British Part 1 registered (now expired).

Please note: All items marked above as new have been purchased and installed in 2020/21. The vessel sadly suffered fire damage whilst in Scotland in 2018, caused by an overturned portable heater in the aft cabin. Very fortunately, the damage sustained was almost all superficial smoke damage, with very little structural damage. The vendor, an ex long distance cruiser himself, purchased the yacht as a 'lockdown' project, having had previous experience of restoring fire damaged boats.

Please note: New doors (x3, in a white paint/epoxy finish) for the aft cabins are currently on order and due to be fitted by the vendor with associated door trims as required.
