This unique Piper One Design, built as Piper OD number 1 to a David Boyd (designer of 1958 America's Cup challenger 'Sceptre') design, is the only Piper OD to have been built in wood, and believed also to have been the last wooden boat built by the Robertson yard. She was used to make the moulds from which the remainder of the class were built (57 boats), together with the Rustler 24. She is therefore a unique and important part of Piper OD class history! Many of the class are still actively cruised and raced around the Clyde, Scotland, but the class association website notes that there are also several examples known to be sailing further afield in England, mainland Europe and even Africa and North America. This example was dry stored for many years by a former owner, and she is consequently understood to be in very good structural order throughout. She has had much success racing on the Broads with her current owner (so much so that her handicap has had to adjusted accordingly!) and he informs us that she consistently out-paces any Yeoman that she meets. She has a very deep, safe cockpit, with many thoughtful and unusual design features, which can comfortably accommodate a crew of up to three. This is an unusual opportunity to purchase a very capable and competitive racing dinghy with a lovely history, and which has the additional benefit of having a good road trailer enabling her owner to keep and maintain her at home should he or she wish to do so.

Price reduced for a quick sale!!! A part exchange would also be considered!
