Construction

• Originally built as a cargo ship for the Stockholm archipelago in about 1955
• Converted to a Weekender in the late 90s
• Clinker construction
• Columbian Pine on Oak frames
• Columbian Pine decks
• Weight approximately 2 tons
• Will pass under all Norfolk Broads bridges including Potter Heigham
• Last ashore and revarnished June 2010
• Surveyed September 2005 for insurance purposes and found to be in "very good preserved condition"

• 12hp Albin twin cylinder petrol inboard
• Engine understood to have been reconditioned in 2000

Remarks

The Snipa is a traditional Swedish double-ender whose design is based on the Viking longboat. This lovely example was brought from Sweden to the Norfolk Broads by her current owner five years ago, but she would be equally at home on any inland water or estuary. She was not subject to VAT when imported into the UK and hence her VAT status is 'VAT deemed paid'. Currently lying ashore.
