EQUIPMENT: Internal: The boat has a central wheelhouse, with steering position to port. Going forward, the saloon has 2 settee berths, a hanging locker and a solid fuel stove. Forward again, the galley is in the bow and provides a cooker (with oven and grill), Electrolux fridge and a sink unit with manually pumped cold water plus worktop and cupboards. Going aft, the engine room has the engines railed off to either side, giving a safe walkway through to the aft cabin. This area also houses the heads (to port) and the sail locker. The aft cabin has 2 berths to port and a single to starboard. Headroom is about 6' throughout and she has a stereo/cassette system, electric lighting and a generator. Navigation equipment includes: Compass, echosounder, Walker and Wasp trailing logs and navigation lights. External: The boat has a galvanised pulpit and stanchions with wooden handrails. She is fitted with davits and has a 7' GRP tender with an outboard. She carries about 10 lifejackets and 2 lifebuoys. Other equipment includes: a 35 lb CQR anchor plus 22 fathoms of chain and manual windlass.
REMARKS: The owner of this vessel is a Marine Engineer in consequence of which the vessel's engines are in excellent condition - and there is a large quantity of spares. Though apparently in excellent structural condition, she is in need of a good tidying below decks after which she would make a comfortable family boat. It is understood her rigging was partially renewed in 1990, with the remainder being replaced in 1998 and that she had 2 new heavy-duty batteries in 1999.
OUR OPINION: An attractive boat, which has been much admired at various rallies, etc. She was built for Queen Victoria's navy in the days when Britain's Navy ruled the waves. Her comparatively shallow draft and the fact that her masts are in tabernacles mean that she is able to go almost anywhere in terms of coastal, estuarial and inland waters.
